This patch release refines the recently introduced ‘Convenience Switching’ feature, specifically for setups where Roon is involved.

Roon doesn’t only stream in its native RAAT format—it can also act as a transport for AirPlay and Squeezelite, and it can serve as a frontend for HQPlayer. In these combinations, RoPieee needs to know that Roon and the other service are actually working together; otherwise Convenience Switching would assume they’re competing for the device and immediately stop the stream.

To fix this, a new switch called ‘Controlled by Roon’ has been added to the AirPlay, Squeezelite and HQPlayer services. Enable it whenever that service is being driven through Roon, and Convenience Switching will correctly treat them as a single, cooperating source instead of stopping playback.

Next to this, a small improvement has been made to mDNS discovery on RoPieee Spinner.

Existing RoPieee users will automatically receive this update on their devices. The latest image for new users can be downloaded directly from here. You can also use the RoPieee Network Installer, which can be downloaded from here.
